Maybe expectations were too high for 20 Things To Do Before You’re 30 and that’s why it seems slightly disappointing. It all seems a bit hit and miss at times but it isn’t bad TV, just not the great unmissable TV we hoped it would be. It works well when it hits upon something that rings true for yourself, like the pointlessness of most Sunday where the day just slips you by without actually doing anything.

20 Things To Do Before You’re 30, Thursdays 22:30 C4

Curb Your Enthusiasm did many things but most significantly it restored faith in American TV. Earlier in the week lovemytv was subjected to the worst piece of TV in living memory (and no that doesn’t seem to be too much of an exaggeration): The Michael Jackson Interview: The Footage You Were Never Meant to See . Please stop the pain. Everyone thought Bashir’s programme was only on for an hour until there was no sign of an ending at five to ten. But to drag this sloppy American ‘true view’ out for two hours was beyond a joke. Did anybody else think there was more than 30 minutes of actual material? Wasn’t most of the running time spend repeating the same information or teasing “After the break find out what Martin Bashir really thought of Michael”. And I think we got the idea that the camera wasn’t secretly filming early in the programme without being told every other minute. And, and, the music playing whilst the mother of the children thought back the tears, please spare us the pain. So it was truly awful television and did it make anything any clearer? No I didn’t think so. Anyway who really cares, Jackson is weird, full stop. The music is/was great and sales of his albums went up following Bashir’s programme. At least now he’ll be able to afford to buy another vase now.

But wasn’t Curb Your Enthusiasm fantastically refreshing?

Curb Your Enthusiasm can be seen Wednesday nights on BBC4
